When you think of the Sony notebooks, the “budget” often doesn’t come to the mind. Apparently with the new VAIO VGN-NR160E they thought of changing this point of view. This “up-hitting” laptop leaves every bell and whistles behind and offers you just what you require to get by still sporting the Sony logo.
This VGN-NR160E has a crisp Xbrite Eco LCD, 1200×800 pixel, 15.4 inch display. You will not find multimedia controls set or even the webcam in this VAIO no matter how market the other brands, but you’ll find 2 decent speakers right on the body. It hosts variety of connections including a VGA port, multicard reader, ExpressCard/34 slot, FireWire port and four USB ports. Though you cannot burn the DVDs in the drive, you can preserve plenty on the 5,400 rpm 160 GB hard disk drive. The VGN-NR160E is the home to T5250 Intel Core 2 Duo 1.5 GHz processor, GMA X3100 card for graphics, and 1 GB RAM. You are not going to play the games soon anytime or using this machine on the long trips, but the basic functions of the graphics including the Vista’s Aero and the 4 hours life of the battery is much than the most expected.
This will not be the main computer, but already you knew that. Perhaps it is going to be good on the road if all that you need is to make some quick work while mobile. On the whole, you are paying for the brand device and the subpar performance also for that price.
