Samsung P40 is simple in design but yet packed with good features. It is made up of a plastic silver metallic casing. The unit contains the Intel Pentium M730 processor that runs at a speed of 1.73 GHz, 512 MB of DDR2 Ram, an LCD display of 15″ XGA TFT, a 60 GB 5400 rpm HDD along with 8 MB of cache and the DVD writer. Exclusive of these, a regular parallel and serial port, four USB ports, Firewire IEEE 1394 port, S-video/VGA out, a Gigabit LAN controller as well as the Wireless 802.11a/b/g controller with the Infrared port.
That is quite a mouthful, isn’t it? The P40 is big in the dimensions than few units of the other competitors. The unit measures 1.26 inches in the height, 10.8 inches in the depth and 12.9 inches in the width. But this is understandable, and considering the truth that it has the TFT screen of 15-inches. It weighs 2.7 kgs or 5.95 lbs. Of course, this looks a bit heavy. This would have been awesome, if they had managed to produce it below 2.25 kg. Breaking this 2 kg limit perhaps is quite the deterrent for the users to purchase a laptop as it accounts the fundamental portability factor. But still, considering those features that it offers, that weight factor can be excused. Pros:Lots of features- Firewire, 512 DDR2, 60 GB HDD, $ USB, Infrared, DVD writer etc. Good performance, three-year warranty.Cons:No Bluetooth, Quite heavy.
