Come one guys we have to remember that we are dealing with life support equipment, this should never happen in serious medical enviroment, if a medical equipment or even medical software fails, people can die... this is not just another industry, this is pretty serious.

This is just a minor disadvantage of the RFID. To date, FDA has received no reports of injuries resulting from RFID although preliminary FDA testing has shown that some RFID emitters might slow the rate of pacemakers or cause implantable cardioverter defibrillators (ICDs) to give inappropriate shocks. Other electronic medical devices could also react inappropriately when in close contact with RFID.

I believe the advantage of RFID has outnumbered the disadvantage especially in the medical field because it makes sure patients receive the correct medications and medical devices and it helps in managing hospital equipments, tracking of patients providing data for electronic medical records systems.

The important thing is patients should be aware of any changes in how they feel when in the RFID environment.
