LG has released the Xnote C1 tablet recently. Is it capable of escaping the problems which have plagued the other players in the segment?
LG is the brand-name that is better known in the world for the white good products. Although they released and marketed earlier too, they were not able to make some success in this segment. So coming to this product, it is little bit wary and curious on the performance and the looks of this product.
The X1 is 10.6 inch tablet surprisingly being light and small. The LG has made a choice to go with the plain black-white combination of colors for the Xnote. The lid of this tablet is made of piano-black with some smooth finish, while that area round the LCD Panel is of lighter matte finish and area of the keyboard is glossy plain white. The complete effect gives this tablet somewhat a sober look and in fact demeans this laptop – by making it appear less expensive than the real worth. Other irritating thing to note here is the top lid is of a fingerprint magnet. Even a little thumbprint shows it up glaringly. In the defense however, the LG has offered a cloth to keep the laptop clean.
The keyboard of this tablet is one of the various surprises that I found in this unit. Unlike the standard keyboards that are offered on the tablets of this segment or size, the X1’s keyboard has large keys surprisingly, great tactile feedback and excellent placement. The normal cramping which an individual faces while typing on the keyboard of the tablet, was conspicuously and thankfully absent. In the similar vein, even the touchpad was top-notch. It provides very good traction and a mouse key pair the surprisingly firm.
