Installing Exchange 2010

Welcome to the tutorial guide.   The tutorial will provide advise and guidance on how to install Exchange 2010.

A user will note that the Exchange 2010 installation is different from Exchange 2007.  This is because the Exchange 2010 only supports the Windows 2008 platform and also there is no 32-bit evaluation version.

Installation process

It is good to know a list of prerequisites for the exchange 2010.  The pre requisites include following:

·        the .NET Framework v3.5,

·        Remote Management Console Community Technology Preview (CTP) 3

·        and Windows PowerShell V2 CTP3.

Please note that with the prerequisites a user can proceed to follow the Exchange 2010 installation wizard.

A user can go to the 3rd wizard step where he has got an option to select the language files to be installed.  After going through the clicks on the Next button a user will come to the installation type select.  Please note that an Exchange 2010 organisation will require the Hub Transport, Client Access and Mailbox server roles.

A user will notice that the Client Settings wizard step asks a user if he/she is running Outlook 2003 and earlier or Entourage. By selecting yes, the installation will create the Public Folder database for the user.   If a user deals with the pre requisites and installs all the updates from Microsoft Update then the user will note that the readiness check identifies the need for three hot fixes. By installing these and restarting the setup will let a user to complete the test and complete the installation.

If a user followed this tutorial guide then he/she would have learnt about installing Exchange 2010 beta.
